Our story
Connections Travel Group founder, Gary Reichenberg, landed in Australia at the age of 18 having fled apartheid South Africa.
He had grown up witnessing what happens when people are treated unequally, and he came to Australia determined to build something that achieved the opposite.
Gary brought with him the Zulu philosophy of UBUNTU – which translates roughly to “I am because of you, we are because of each other”. It’s the simple, uncompromising idea that none of us gets anywhere on our own. This is the foundations our business is built upon.
What Ubuntu means to our business today
Ubuntu remains central to the Connections Travel Group culture today; it underpins every decision we make because looking after people isn’t something we do when it’s convenient, it’s our daily responsibility and we take it seriously.
